Men of Honor Bible Study

The purpose of this study is to help men become Men of Honor by cleansing themselves (2 Timothy 2:21) from what is dishonorable. The Bible is the text book, the heart is the target and the Holy Spirit is the Teacher.

"Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable. Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work." (2 Timothy 2:20-21, ESV)

This study aims to help men find freedom from any impurity, thereby becoming men of honor. It is important to understand that there are many different habitual sins from which we are required to be cleansed. Men struggle with pornography, sexual impurity of all kinds, overeating, overdrinking, drug abuse, smoking, gambling and all kinds of other habitual sins. There are also heart sins which need to be addressed: issues such as sinful anger, bitterness, deceit, covetousness, etc. are sins which are not always easily seen, but may destroy the Christian life and inhibit fruitfulness. Through the Men of Honor course, these sins will all be addressed, and the men invited to turn from them toward Christ.

The aim of the study is to look into the Scriptures and see what God says, and then discuss in the group how to apply the biblical truths learned. The invitation of the study is for each man to take seriously the challenge to “cleanse himself from what is dishonorable” that he might be highly useful to God, and very effective in his service and leadership to others.

The “Men of Honor” course will begin Saturday, January 9, 2010, at 7 a.m. Breakfast will be available in the Macedonia Fellowship Hall at 6:45 a.m. Please sign up soon, as this will help us to know how many books to provide and how much breakfast to prepare. Workbooks will be available December 27. Sign up on the sheet on the table underneath the Men of Honor poster.
