Life Group Questions

1. If you were not able to hear this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What are some main ideas that you gathered from the sermon? Do you have any questions?

2. What does it mean to be a man or woman of God? What kind of qualities should such a person possess? Do you feel qualified and comfortable with bearing the title man or woman of God? Why or why not?

3. What is your impression of the manner in which the man of God addressed Eli? What was the source and basis for his message? Do you feel it is appropriate for us to confront other people about their sins? Describe some things we should consider when confronting others.

4. Look at our passage and describe how God showed His mercy and grace to Eli and his family. How should God’s grace have impacted the attitude and actions of Eli and his sons (cf. Exodus 20:1-2; Deuteronomy 6:4-6)? Do you feel that God’s grace has led you to be faithful to God?

5. What does it mean that God reveals Himself to us? How does nature attest to the fact that God exists (cf. Psalm 19, Romans 1:20)? Why is Scripture essential to our knowing God (cf. 2 Timothy 3:16)? What does it mean that Jesus Christ is the revelation of God (cf. John 1:18)?

6. If God has forgiven us of our sins, does that mean there are no consequences for sins we commit? If so, what are some of the consequences of sin? Describe the judgment that each person will face one day (cf. 2 Corinthians 5:10).
