Life Group Questions

1. If you were not at this week’s service, consider going to the church website and listening to the sermon. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. Do you believe that all people are equal in worth and value regardless of ethnicity, nationality and status? What does it mean that Christ is the Savior of the world (cf. 1 John 4:14)? Who, specifically, are the ones that are made alive in Christ (cf. 1 Corinthians 15:22)?

3. Read Galatians 3:25-29 and Ephesians 4:1-7. What does it mean for Christians to have a common standing? Do you believe that to be true? Describe the calling that each believer has in Christ. Describe what God has gifted and called you to do.

4. Read back through some of the book of Judges and the stories about Gideon, Barak, Samson and Jephthah. What stands out to you about the faith of these individuals? What were the circumstances that made their faith shine? How does this challenge you?

5. Describe what it means that faith is a common denominator (cf. Hebrews 11). Why do you think the writer of Hebrews uses the phrase “by faith” 19 times in this chapter? What is the significance of that phrase?

6. Why does the writer say that the world was not worthy of the individuals described in this passage (vs. 38)? How is the writer using the word “world?” Does the world consider such people as valuable or worthy of honor? Explain.
