Life Group Questions

1. If you were not at this week’s service, consider going to the church website and listening to the sermon. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. Provide a definition of righteousness. What does the Bible mean by saying none are righteous (cf. Psalm 14:1-3; Romans 3:9-12)? Does this mean that all people are bad? Explain.

3. Can people do good things? What does it take to qualify our deeds as good? What did Paul think about his accomplishments and qualifications (cf. Philippians 3:7-9)?

4. How does Jesus Christ make us righteous (cf. Romans 5:18-21)? What has He done to qualify us as righteous (cf. 1 Peter 3:18; 2 Corinthians 5:21)? What does a person’s righteousness tell us about their relationship with God (1 John 2:29)?

5. Read Genesis 4:1-16. Why did God prefer Abel’s sacrifice to Cain’s? Do you think the type of offerings given by Cain and Abel influenced God’s acceptance? Explain. What does God look for in our offerings to Him (cf. Psalm 51:16)?

6. What does it mean that Enoch pleased God? Can we please God? If so, how can we please God (cf. Proverbs 15:8; Ephesians 5:7-10; Galatians 1:10; Colossians 1:9-10)? Would you say that your life is pleasing to God? Why or why not?

7. If God looked down and saw that all people were guilty of wickedness, how did Noah become righteous (Genesis 6:5-8)? What did Noah do to please God? What were some ways in which Noah demonstrated faith in God? List some ways that you have shown faith in God this last year.
