Life Group Questions

1. If you were not able to hear this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What are some main ideas that you gathered from the sermon? Do you have any questions?

2. What does it mean that we are no longer condemned for our sin? What condemnation did we face for our sin? Do you ever struggle to feel free from God’s condemnation? Explain.

3. Read the following passages: John 8:31-36; 2 Corinthians 3:1-17; Romans 6:1-19. Describe the freedom that comes through knowing and abiding in Christ. What stands out to you about this freedom?

4. True freedom is for those who are specifically “in Christ.” Read Ephesians 1:3-14; 2:13-16; 2 Timothy 1:1-9; Colossians 2:11-15. Do a search on this phrase and list at least three observations.

5. How can the Bible say that we are free from sin and death when we all struggle with sin and face the likelihood of death one day? Read Isaiah 61:1; 1 Corinthians 15:1-56. What kind of victory do Christians have over sin and death? Do you feel victorious?

6. What does it mean to please God (cf. Hebrews 11:6)? Why is pleasing God impossible apart from being in Christ? What are some ways in which we can please God? Is your life pleasing to God?

7. Have you ever considered that God set you free from sin through Christ to become His servant? Read the following passages and provide two observations: Galatians 5:1-15; 1 Peter 2:16.
