Life Group Questions

1. If you were not able to hear this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What are some main ideas that you gathered from the sermon? Do you have any questions?

2. What does it mean that the Lord remembers (cf. Genesis 8:1; 9:15-16; Exodus 2:24)? Why would it be wrong to say that God is forgetful? Can or does He forget? Explain.

3. What is the difference between God forgiving our sins and forgetting about our sins (Isaiah 43:25; Hebrews 8:12)? Describe the wonder and beauty of God forgiving our sins.

4. Describe Hannah and the apparent weakness she had. How did God use her time of need and weakness to display His power? How has God used your weakness to reveal His power?

5. How should we regard our weaknesses (cf. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10)? Have you struggled with weaknesses in your life (physical, spiritual, etc.)? How can we learn to cope with and excel through our weaknesses (Psalm 34:18; 51:17; 62:8; Isaiah 61:1; 1 Peter 5:6)?

6. What is the difference between true faith and useless religion? How do we know if we have a true saving faith (cf. Matthew 7:21-23)? What is the evidence that God has truly saved us (cf. Galatians 5:22-26)? Read 2 Corinthians 13:5.

7. What are we to make of Hannah’s vow to the Lord? What does her promise real about her heart for God? Have you made any promises to God? Are you faithful in your commitments to God? Read Psalm 37.
