Life Group Questions

1. If you were not able to hear this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What are some main ideas that you gathered from the sermon? What, if any, questions did the sermon cause for you or do you desire to have additional clarification?

2. What is your definition of the word “supremacy?” How would you apply this in regard to the Lord Jesus?

3. Who would you consider to be the G.O.A.T. (Greatest of All Time) in various sporting events (Basketball, Football, Baseball, Etc.)? When you read Colossians 1:15-20, how do these G.O.A.T. pale in comparison to our Lord Jesus (cf. 1 Chronicles 16:25, Psalm 48:1, Psalm 145:3)?

4. Who does Paul say that Jesus is in verse 15? What does this tell us about Jesus’ deity (cf. Colossians 2:9)? Look at the following passages and reflect on what they tell us about our Lord: Hebrews 1:3-4, John 1:1-4, Philippians 2:5-8.

5. What does Paul tell us about Jesus in regards to creation? What does this thought tell us about the eternality and supremacy of our Lord (cf. John 17:5, Jude 1:25, 1 Corinthians 8:6, Hebrews 2:10)?

6. What does it mean, in verse 18, that Jesus is the “head” of the Church (cf. Ephesians 1:21-23, 4:15-16, 5:23)? Reflect on this idea. How do these Scriptures shape your thoughts about the church and who is the “Senior Pastor” and what our responsibility is?

7. What does the word “reconciliation” mean? How has Christ reconciled you? Read the following passages and reflect upon this idea: Romans 5:10-11, 2 Corinthians 5:18-19, Ephesians 2:12-16. How does the ministry of reconciliation change earthly relationships in the Christian’s life?

8. Based upon verse 20, who is our true source of peace? How is this peace made possible? What does Colossians 3:15-17 tell us about this peace and what we are to do with it?
