1. If you were not able to hear this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What are some main ideas that you gathered from the sermon? Do you have any questions?

2. What is your understanding of the meaning of “good works?” Read Ephesians 2:10. Who should be doing good works? Why should someone be doing good works?

3. Read James 2:17; 20; 26. What do these three verses teach about claiming to have faith without works?

4. Read James 2:14-20. Can a person be saved if they do not have any good works? What kind of faith is it that does not produce any good works? Read Matthew 7:21-23. What is the result of someone who claims to know the Lord, but the Lord does not know them?

5. Read James 2:21-24. Remember the life of Abraham. Read Genesis 15:6; 22:1-19. What did Abraham do to prove to God he had genuine living faith? Why was Abraham called a friend of God? What will it take for us to be called a friend of God?

6. Read James 2:25; Joshua 2:11; Hebrews 11:31. What stands out to you the most about the life of Rahab the prostitute? How did Rahab prove she had genuine living faith?

7. Read James 2:26. How does James close his teaching on faith and works? What has the Holy Spirit revealed to you from James 2:14-26 about your faith and works?
