Life Group Questions

1. If you were not at this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. Who are the people of God? How do we know if a person is a part of God’s family? What are some of the distinctions made between sinners and God’s people (cf. Psalm 1)?

3. Read Matthew 12:46-50 and describe the general meaning of this statement by Jesus. What does it mean to be a brother or sister of Jesus? What does it mean to be a person who does the will of the Father? Why do you think Jesus avoided adding “father” to the list (cf. Matthew 23:9)?

4. In what way and in what degree has God given us love for one another (cf. 1John 2:9-3:17)? Why does hatred for one’s brothers and sisters in Christ nullify a confession of loving God (cf. 1John 4:20-21)? Describe the love that Paul had for Christians (cf. Philippians 4:1). Is it wrong if we love fellow Christians even more than non-Christians?

5. What does it mean to cultivate brotherly love (cf. 1Thessalonians 4:9-12; 1Peter 1:22-23)? What are some ways in which we can cultivate love at Macedonia Church? How do we encourage love to continue (cf. Hebrews 13:1)?

6. What are some ways in which you have appreciated other Christians showing you love? List some tangible ways in which we can show love for one another (cf. Galatians 6:2, 10; Matthew 18:21; Romans 14:13; James 4:11; Hebrews 10:24-25). What should we take from the example of Christ’s love in John 13:12-17?
