Life Group Questions

1. If you were not able to hear this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. How would you define godliness? Describe a person you have known whom you considered godly. What was it about their character and conduct that impressed you?

3. What are some ways in which godliness adds value to our lives in the present and the future (cf. 1 Timothy 4:7-8)? How does a lack of godliness or even ungodliness hinder the Christian life?

4. List some ways in which we can be an encouragement to Christians who have “drooping hands and weak knees” (cf. 1 Thessalonians 5:14). What are some ways in which we can help ourselves and others walk the “straight path” of life (cf. Proverbs 3:6-8; 4:26; 15:21).

5. Read Luke 13:10-13. List some observations about the woman’s condition, the work of Christ and the proper response to God’s gracious healing.

6. How do we strive for peace and holiness? What are some things we can do to promote
these things in our lives? Can we have peace with the world (cf. John 16:33)? Why is promoting peace such an important element of being a child of God (cf. Matthew 5:9)?

7. Read the account of Genesis 25:29-34. What was wrong with the heart of Esau? Why was forsaking his birthright and the manner in which he did it such a significant offense? What exactly did Esau forfeit (cf. Genesis 27)? What are some things we can forfeit with a single act of ungodliness?
