Life Group Questions

1. If you were not able to hear this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What are some main ideas that you gathered from the sermon? Do you have any questions?

2. Read Matthew 6:25-33 and describe some advantages of having God as our Heavenly Father and King. What does it mean to seek the Kingdom of God? Is that a priority in your life?

3. How do earthly kings and leaders differ from our Heavenly King (cf. Luke 18:1-8; 22:24-27)? Do you think God ever gets bothered or annoyed by His people who seek His help? Explain.

4. Do you think God desires us to obey the authority of earthly leaders and governments (cf. Romans 13:1-2; 1 Peter 2:13-14)? What limits, if any, are there to our obedience to earthly authorities (cf. Acts 5:29)? To what extent are earthly rulers approved and appointed by God?

5. Why is it important that our faith is not in people (cf. Psalm 118:8-9; 146:3-4; Jeremiah 17:5)? How does the example of Jesus help us have a proper perspective about this matter (cf. John 2:24-25)? How can we balance having respect for faithful people yet not placing our faith in them?

6. Read Psalm 95 and list at least three ways we should respond to the greatness of our King. Take time to pray and acknowledge the Lord our Maker.
