1. If you were not able to hear this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What are some main ideas that you gathered from the sermon? Do you have any questions?

2. Why do you think people reject God as King of their life? What is it about God that people do not like? Do you ever struggle with giving God complete authority over your life? Explain.

3. What does the writer mean by saying that the sons of Samuel “did not walk in his ways?” How does this relate to Eli’s sons (cf. 1 Samuel 2)? What were the ways of Samuel? Describe the way in which we are to live our lives (cf. Acts 9:2; Ephesians 4:1; Colossians 1:10).

4. What are some ways in which Israel and others in the Bible rejected God (cf. Genesis 3:10; 6:5; Numbers 14:26; Acts 7:51-53; Luke 7:30; Isaiah 53:6; John 1:11)?

5. What does it mean to be faithful to God? How does faithfulness to God relate to our relationship with other believers? How should our faithfulness to God manifest itself in our participation and involvement with the church?

6. In what way does God call us and intend for us to be separate and distinct from the world (cf. Leviticus 20:26; Ephesians 2:10; Matthew 5:13-16; Philippians 2:15)? List some ways in which we can safeguard ourselves from becoming like the world (cf. Romans 12:1-2; Colossians 2:8).

7. How would you describe the purpose of life (cf. Ecclesiastes 12:13)? List some reasons why we should be concerned about how we live our lives (cf. 2 Corinthians 5:10; Matthew 5:16; 1 Peter 2:12).
