Life Group Questions

1. If you were not able to hear this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What are some main ideas that you gathered from the sermon? Do you have any questions?

2. Read Acts 16:1-40. Select and discuss the events in the life of Paul and Silas that contributed to the new church plant in Philippi.

3. Read the book of Philippians and write down the key verses that encouraged you. Share some of the verses you chose with your Life Group. Discuss why these verses encouraged you.

4. Read Acts 15:1,5; Galatians 5:1-4; Philippians 3:2. Who are those Paul called “dogs,” “evildoers” and “those who mutilate the flesh?” Why did Paul have such a problem with these people?

5. Read Philippians 3:3a; Colossians 2:11-12. What does Paul mean by calling the Philippian believers the circumcision? What are some other names for true believers in the Bible?

6. Read Philippians 3:3b. How would you define the word worship? What does Paul mean by saying “worship by the Spirit of God?” Read John 4:23-24. What did Jesus mean by saying “the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth?” List some examples of true biblical worship? (Example) True worshippers love God. [Deuteronomy 6:5] – You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

7. Read Philippians 3:3c. What does it mean to “glory in Christ Jesus?” Read 1 Corinthians 1:31; Galatians 6:14; Jeremiah 9:23-24. What are some ways we can boast in Christ Jesus?

8. Read Philippians 3:3d. What does the Apostle Paul mean by “put no confidence in the flesh?” Read Philippians 3:4-11. What did Paul give up and what did he gain? Do you have these three marks of a genuine Christian in your life?
